Last Leg of the Trip West

Making dinosaur track cast in a “secret place”

In August of 2024, Glenn & Ruby set out with two friends, Marcia and Angie, for a 3 day drive out west to dig fossils. The other main ministry objective that they felt called to do was to make a cast of dinosaur tacks. Read below the testimony of that experience trying to make a dinosaur cast on Navajo lands.

Glenn felt God calling his entourage to explore the Dinosaur trackway at Tuba City and make casts of the dinosaur tracks.

When we arrived at the Tuba City AZ dinosaur trackway and asked the Navaho ‘guide’ about making cast he said this was not allowed. It was against their tribe’s laws. Anticipating that potential response, we came prepared to make measurements of the track’s sizes, spacings, & directions. What we found was that the tracks were of a variety of types of dinosaurs, they were in all directions, unlike a migration, and the toes were usually deeper than the heels. These observations suggest that the creatures were trudging through water in a panic trying to escape a flood.

Two nights later, before we were to head out early to the Grand Canyon, Glenn felt God kept waking him up saying “go back and try again” to make a cast. That morning, Glenn told the ladies about this and they said if that is what God is saying then we better go back.

We met a Navaho man near the area who said making track cast was not allowed at the Tuba City trackway but then said “I know a secret place.” Marcia and Angie decided not to go with us and waited in Tuba City. The Navajo man led Ruby and Glenn on a long trip through the desert to a remote location. After following our Navaho guide for about 30 minutes through the desert to the middle of nowhere and Ruby was getting worried. She asked, “do you think he is taking us out here to rob us or maybe something worse.” Glenn replied “since God told us to come back we’ve got nothing to be scared of.”

We continued driving another 10 minutes to a place so remote there was nothing within site but desert. That’s when we stopped and followed our guide up a small hill. There he showed us three big footprints and the impression left of a dinosaur head. We selected the cleanest footprint and mixed-up plaster. We covered the bottom with plastic to protect the trace fossil print and then poured the plaster to make a cast of the large dinosaur foot. As it was drying, I asked the guide if I could ask him a personal question. When our guide said “yes” I asked him “do you know who Jesus is?” The guide’s eyes lit up and he said “Yes, He’s my savior.” We learned that his sister leads their Tribal chapter’s Bible study. God is good. He put a believer in the right place and sent us back to do what God called us to do.

Now for the final miracle of this experience. We wanted to do something for this man’s effort at helping us so I asked him how much could I pay him for this incredible experience. He said “well my car needs fixing and I just took it to a mechanic.” My first thought was “oh no, I don’t have enough money to fix his car” so I said “I have $xxx on me” and his face once again lit up as he said “that is exactly how much the mechanic said I needed to fix my car.” You see, by being faithful God blessed both of us and met our needs. But God often works in mysterious ways that may seem ridiculous and scary to us. God wants to see if we trust Him. You can trust Him will all your problems and needs but as Matthew 6 teaches, we need to seek Him first and He will provide for all our needs.
