Have you ever been told that “Carbon dating said this fossil or layer or cave formation was xxx million of years old?” Is this true and how should you respond?
Carbon occurs in several stable forms. The most common by far is 12C and lesser extent 13C. As Cosmic Rays penetrate out atmosphere, it converts stable nitrogen (14N) into unstable 14C. The unstable14C combines with oxygen to make carbon dioxide (14CO2) which is taken up by plants. As animals consume the plants they take in 14C & 12C from the plants. When they die they stop taking in 14C & 12C. Since 14C is unstable, it begins to decay but 12C is stable and stays the same. Thus, the ratio of 14C to 12C decreases with time after death. Knowing the change in 14C/12C and the decay rate of 14C one can calculate the time it has been dead.
Because the atmosphere today is only <one-billionth% 14C, Carbon dating is only good to <100,000 years max!

The rate of decay of 14C back to 14N has always been the same as measured today.

Problems with Carbon-Dating
Earth’s Magnetic Field
The earth’s magnetic field has been rapidly weakening since creation. Therefore, before the flood, the magnetic field would be higher than today and repel more cosmic rays and produce less 14C.
Low 14C/12C is not due to object being old but because it started with low 14C
Preflood Biosphere
Before the flood, the biosphere would have 500 times more vegetation to store carbon than today. This would dilute the 14C taken up by plants such that 14C/12C consumed by animals would be MUCH smaller than today.
Age estimate would be 10x the true age!
Isotope Affect
Reactions and behavior of the isotope are affected by the atom’s size. There is an isotope affect in plant uptake with a preference for 12C. Thus, lower 14C/12C in plant than atmosphere.
Low 14C/12C is not due to object being old but because it started with low 14C
Plant & Animal Affects
-Plants have distinct differences in C uptake between C3, C4 and CAM type plants and once taken in by plants, 14C & 12C is transported through the plant and stored among the plant compartments (stems, lower leaves, upper leaves…). There can be differences in 14C/12C among plant parts and carbon storage changes with stage of growth and age of the plants.
-Animals have preferences for certain plants over other plants and for certain plant parts (fresh leaves over old leaves and/or stems).
The Assumptions of Carbon Dating are Simply Bogus!

Conducted an international blind-test by sending artifacts of “known age” to 38 of the world’s leading radiocarbon testing laboratories.

If C-dating cannot be validated with subjects of known death-dates, why trust it with unknown subjects?
